Ordinary Idahoans. Extraordinary persistence
Reclaim Idaho began with a green camper van and a big idea: that everyday Idahoans—when given the tools and support—could transform the future of their state.
Since 2017, our work has been grounded in face-to-face conversations, town hall meetings, and door-to-door organizing. What started as a grassroots push in one county has become a statewide movement for working families, strong public schools, and accessible healthcare.
our impact timeline
2017 — Reclaim Idaho launches with a campaign to support public education in Bonner County.
2018 — Volunteers gather 60,000 signatures to place Medicaid Expansion on the ballot. Idaho voters pass it with 61% support.
2019–2021 — We defend the citizen initiative process from legislative attacks—including a trip to the Idaho Supreme Court.
2022–2023 — Idahoans for Open Primaries collects 90,000 signatures in support of a new initiative to open elections to all voters.
2025 — Our “Not a Dollar More” campaign fights back against a growing private school voucher program that threatens to siphon public funds away from neighborhood schools.
WHY BALLOT INITIATIVES MATTER
In Idaho, citizen initiatives are a tool for the people, especially when the legislature refuses to act.
We believe that when communities organize, listen, and vote, we can pass laws that truly reflect the will of the people. Our focus has always been on empowering Idahoans to lead the charge, not waiting for politicians to catch up.

Behind every win are thousands of conversations, long drives, and early mornings. Here are just a few examples of what’s possible when Idahoans take action:
Medicaid Expansion: Over 60,000 Idahoans gained access to healthcare through a successful ballot initiative, organized entirely by volunteers.
Protecting Initiatives: When lawmakers tried to shut down the initiative process, we took them to court—and won.
Local Victories: From rural levies to candidate recruitment, volunteers have led local wins that improved schools, protected lands, and built power.
“I’ve never worked so hard—or been so proud. Reclaim Idaho gave me the tools, and my town gave me a reason.”
— Volunteer from Valley County
